Job summary

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Capacity Data Analytics team. This role partners with engineering, business, finance and operations to design scalable data solutions and canonical datasets to measure operational efficiency and support infrastructure planning.

You will build SQL-based data pipelines, develop self-service analytics platforms, maintain data governance, and communicate data lineage to technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering/Math or related field.
• Strong experience developing complex SQL queries for large-scale analytical workloads.
• Experience designing data warehouse solutions, data models, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data quality, metadata, and data lineage concepts.
• Experience delivering end-to-end data engineering solutions from requirements through production deployment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguous problems.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to engineering teams and leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross-functional organizations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain scalable data engineering solutions and self-service analytics platforms.
• Build high-quality SQL-based data pipelines, curated datasets, and reusable data models for reporting and analytics.
• Develop and maintain canonical datasets that serve as trusted sources for decision-making.
• Partner with engineering, finance, product, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Own projects from requirements through production delivery with focus on accuracy and operational excellence.
• Communicate data lineage, assumptions, and transformation logic clearly to diverse audiences.
• Improve data quality, governance, and engineering best practices.
• Support development of self-service reporting capabilities across OCI.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency through data-driven solutions.
• Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on knowledge sharing and innovation.
