Collectors is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and own the data platform that supports analytics, AI agents, and reporting. The role emphasizes scalable ingestion pipelines, a robust warehouse, and governance across datasets.

Collaboration with analytics teams and leadership is expected to advance data-driven decision making. The position offers remote or hybrid work, with onsite requirements for long-distance commutes eventually.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building data platforms in production
• Experience with cloud data warehousing (BigQuery)
• Experience with dbt and modern ingestion tooling

Responsibilities

• Build and own components of the data platform (ingestion, warehouse, transformation) with scalable, secure systems
• Contribute to architecture and design reviews with senior engineers
• Design and maintain data ingestion pipelines across diverse sources
• Develop end-to-end with AI coding agents and guardrails for safe, high-quality AI-assisted engineering
• Improve reliability through testing, monitoring, and on-call practices
• Implement governance, access controls, and data quality safeguards
• Collaborate with analytics engineers and stakeholders to translate data needs into platform capabilities
• Develop APIs, automated jobs, and internal tools in Python to broaden data access
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing
• Explore lakehouse patterns and alternative query engines for future improvements
