Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help design and build the next generation of our Data Platform on Google Cloud Platform. You will tackle streaming, batch ingestion, and lakehouse management, enabling scale for hundreds of millions of events daily.

You will own infrastructure as code in Terraform/Ansible, run on Kubernetes, and work with Iceberg, Kafka, and Airflow to empower BI and AI interfaces. The role is fully remote in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Data Engineering experience and 2+ years operating scalable, low-latency data platforms.
• Hands-on on Kubernetes with Docker and Helm.
• Experience with IaC: Terraform, Ansible, and ArgoCD.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems and open-source engines like Trino/Presto.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve core data platform infrastructure.
• Own lakehouse infrastructure as code and deployments.
• Build streaming and batch ingestion paths landing in Iceberg.
• Scale BI access and ensure performant data for downstream teams.
• Enforce reliability, monitoring, and incident response.
