Job summary

Vida seeks a Senior Data Engineer to own data systems end to end, from ingestion and validation through storage, transformation, and delivery.

You will design robust schemas, improve pipelines, and collaborate with Engineering, Product, Operations, and Analytics to ensure data accuracy, availability, and insight across Vida's platforms.

You do not need healthcare experience; strong data discipline and Python experience are required. This is a US-based remote role supporting Vida's data platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree minimum.
• 5+ years building production data systems.
• Strong SQL and data modeling fundamentals.
• Experience designing batch and asynchronous pipelines.
• Experience with a cloud data platform.
• Strong instincts around data correctness, idempotency and backfills.
• Proficient in Python for pipelines and tooling.
• Ability to change production systems in ordered, reversible steps.
• Clear written communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Own production data systems and domains from ingestion through delivery.
• Design ingestion patterns handling incomplete, duplicated, or changing data.
• Define contracts between source systems, ingestion, transformation, and downstream consumers.
• Design data models with grain, keys, history and definitions.
• Evolve schemas, pipelines, and datasets safely with backfills and reprocessing.
• Improve pipeline performance, observability, and failure handling.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Operations and Analytics on data needs.
• Additional responsibilities as needed.
