Job summary

Sezzle seeks a Senior Data Engineer to own data pipelines, transformations, and reporting that furnish customer account information to credit bureaus. You will work in a fast-paced fintech environment, taking hands-on ownership of production workflows and debugging SQL and Python code.

You will partner with Customer Service, Compliance, and Engineering to resolve disputes, apply reporting requirements, and ensure data accuracy.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5+ years of data engineering or software engineering, with ownership of production data pipelines.
• Advanced SQL skills with complex joins, reconciliation, profiling, and troubleshooting.
• Strong Python skills for debugging and maintaining scripts.
• Ability to investigate ambiguous problems and drive issues to resolution.
• Experience with version control, automated testing, monitoring, and safe deployment of data workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to explain findings to non- technical teams.
• Fluent in English.
• Experience with Claude or similar AI tools to enhance productivity.

Responsibilities

• Own recurring credit bureau furnishing operations and data preparation.
• Build, maintain, and debug SQL transformations and Python scripts producing credit data.
• Trace discrepancies through transformation logic to furnished outputs and implement fixes.
• Address escalations from Customer Service and Compliance with approved reporting requirements.
• Identify affected accounts and perform corrected reprocessing of data.
• Develop automated tests, monitoring, and alerts for data quality before submission.
• Collaborate with Engineering to validate fixes and improve production services.
• Document reporting logic, data lineage, and incident resolutions.
