Job summary

PENN Entertainment, Inc. in North America is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to partner with Data Services, Analytics Engineering, Product and Business stakeholders to design scalable data solutions and shape our data platform's architecture.

You will lead data modeling, pipelines, and governance, mentoring teams and driving best practices across cloud environments. You will work with BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Python and SQL to enable self-service analytics and trusted insights across sports, gaming

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Python, SQL.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT design, and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform services and data visualization tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data opportunities and prioritize initiatives.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for analytics and operations.
• Develop, test, and optimize dbt models following data modeling best practices.
• Manage orchestration platforms including Airflow and Dagster exposure.
• Design dimensional, semantic, and analytical data models for self-service analytics.
• Drive data architecture decisions and establish engineering standards.
• Lead data quality, observability, and governance initiatives.
