Job summary

PENN Interactive is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Services team, building transformed data to meet stakeholder needs. You will work with data engineers to create data pipelines, develop dbt models, and ensure accurate data delivery for analytics and decision making.

You should have 4+ years in analytics/data engineering, strong SQL, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Python, and experience with Looker or Mode; interest in sports, betting and casino data is a plus.

Qualifications

• University degree in CS/Statistics/Business or related field.
• 4+ years in analytics engineering/data engineering.
• Strong SQL, data modeling and data transformation skills.
• Experience with BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Python, and relational databases.
• Experience with data exploration tools such as Looker or Mode.

About the Role & Team

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll work hand-in-hand with the Data Services team to build, validate and deliver transformed data to meet stakeholder requirements. The ideal candidate has strong SQL skills, a passion for data, a technical background and an interest in professional sports, betting & casino games.

About the Work

• As a key member of our team, you will:
• Liaise with business stakeholders to identify data driven projects and opportunities.
• Liaise with data engineers to build data pipelines and solve related issues.
• Use your SQL expertise to develop dbt models.
• Manage Airflow tasks and scheduling.
• Assist team members in solving data issues related to both analysis and modeling.
• Complete analyses and present clear recommendations to business stakeholders.
• Oversee team analysis to ensure data and insights shared are accurate and informative.
• Help with implementation & adoption of a data exploration tool across the organization
• Provide support on data engineer hiring, onboarding and continued professional development. Mentor others.
• Other duties as required

About the You

• University degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or related field.
• You possess a minimum of 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering/data engineering,
• You bring hands‑on expertise with our technology stack: BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Python, and relational databases.
• You have a proven track record in building and optimizing data transformation pipelines
• You excel in managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and
• transparency throughout project lifecycles.
• You excel in fast-paced environments, employing a pragmatic and adaptive approach to problem-solving.
• Experience with a data exploration tool such as Looker or Mode.
• Interest in Sports and consumer products
