Job summary

Modelyst is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own a designed AWS data platform and ensure its reliable operation. This role focuses on launching the platform in a customer’s AWS environment, primarily in Japan, and managing it over time. Ideal candidates will have senior-level experience with Python and AWS, ensuring production reliability.

This position is remote within the United States, suitable for engineers who take pride in deploying systems into production environments and wanting long-term engagement.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience shipping production backend or data services in Python.
• Experience with AWS architecture, including event-driven services.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform.
• Operated systems in production with accountability.

Responsibilities

• Implement data pipelines and backend services in Python on AWS.
• Design and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
• Deploy the platform end-to-end into the customer's AWS environment.
• Build CI/CD, observability, and runbooks for reliable operation.
• Own the platform post-launch, including incident response and performance.
