Job summary

Mastercard seeks a Lead Data Engineer to join our team. This senior individual-contributor role drives design standards and guides engineering practices, balancing hands-on architecture with leadership to build data platforms at scale across the fintech space.

You will partner with product and stakeholders on roadmap, own deployment and upgrade strategies, and mentor engineers to deliver high-quality, observable, cost-conscious data solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Expert hands-on Databricks, Spark, Python, and PySpark.
• Strong CI/CD, GitLab/Jenkins, and dbt experience for data platforms.
• Ability to define engineering standards and lead a team's practices.

Responsibilities

• Set and enforce design standards for pipelines on Databricks, Spark, Python, PySpark, and dbt.
• Provide technical leadership and review architecture and design.
• Lead CI/CD, DataOps, and data observability strategy.
• Own Databricks platform administration and deployment governance.
• Drive resolution of complex technical challenges across pipelines.
• Mentor engineers and foster code quality culture.
• Partner with product on roadmap and trade-offs.
• Own deployment, migration, and upgrade strategy for data platforms.
