Job summary

Artifintech in Hartford, CT seeks a Data Engineer with Microsoft Fabric to design and deliver data pipelines and analytics models for a client migrating to a unified lakehouse. You will lead design, build pipelines, and serve as the day-to-day technical contact with business and IT stakeholders on site.

You will mentor junior developers, review code, and hand over production-ready assets while ensuring governance and performance. Strong Fabric experience is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering with end-to-end delivery on Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Factory pipelines, notebooks).
• Expert-level SQL (T-SQL) and PySpark/Python, with Delta Lake knowledge.
• Strong dimensional modelling and medallion architecture experience.
• Experience with incremental loads, CDC patterns, and data quality frameworks at scale.
• Git-based version control and CI/CD for data assets, not just usage.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a small team and code reviews.
• Excellent communication with client stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and build ingestion and transformation pipelines using Fabric Data Factory and Spark notebooks.
• Define Lakehouse vs Warehouse choices and medallion layering on One Lake with Delta tables.
• Design and optimize Power BI semantic models and guide report developers.
• Lead migration of workloads (SSIS, ADF, Synapse) to Fabric with planning and cutover.
• Set up CI/CD using Fabric Git integration and deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub).
• Define and enforce security and governance: workspace roles, row/column security, sensitivity labeling, Purview integration.
• Own performance, tuning pipelines, Spark jobs, and queries; capacity management.
• Conduct code/design reviews and mentor junior/mid-level developers.
• Run requirement workshops, estimate work, identify risks, maintain runbooks.
