Job summary

Fortegra seeks a Senior Data Engineer to modernize data platforms and build scalable pipelines on Azure and Databricks. You will architect lakehouse solutions, governance, and AI-assisted automation, driving data quality across the organization.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent; advanced degree a plus.
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on data engineering experience.
• Expert-level Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, and cost optimization.
• Proficiency with Azure data stack: ADLS Gen2, Synapse, Event Hubs, Key Vault, Functions.
• Strong data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop, and own high-performance batch and streaming data pipelines and RESTful APIs.
• Lead lakehouse solutions on Databricks and Spark optimization.
• Build ingestion/transformation workflows using ADF, Databricks Workflows, and dbt.
• Design enterprise data warehouse models using star schemas and conformed dimensions.
• Integrate data from internal and third‑party systems via RESTful APIs.
• Apply AI platforms to accelerate development and automate data quality checks.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines and IaC for data workloads with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and enforce engineering standards.
