Job summary

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) Inbound seeks a Software Development Engineer II who will own large-scale data infrastructure, design and operate batch and streaming pipelines, and collaborate with ML teams to productionize models. You will build data models, feature stores, and pipelines for analytics, reporting, and ML workloads at petabyte scale.

The role emphasizes data quality, observability, and reliable software delivery with CI/CD, testing, and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building complex software systems.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/Math or related field.
• Strong Python proficiency and SQL at scale.
• Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines in production environments.
• Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Hive, Presto, or similar).
• Experience building data models and ETL/ELT pipelines for analytics and ML workloads.
• Experience collaborating with ML teams to productionize models.
• Experience with data quality, validation, or observability practices for production datasets.
• Experience using AI coding assistants or agentic development tools to accelerate delivery.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals (testing, CI/CD, code review, production operations).

Responsibilities

• Independently design, build, and operate scalable, reliable data pipelines (batch and streaming).
• Own data modeling, data warehousing, and curated datasets for analytics, reporting, and ML.
• Build feature engineering pipelines and feature stores for ML models.
• Lead design reviews and trade-offs for performance, cost, and scalability.
• Own data quality, lineage, and observability across datasets and pipelines.
• Partner with scientists to operationalize ML workflows, including data prep and model scoring.
• Deliver robust, production-ready software with CI/CD and monitoring.
• Diagnose and resolve production data issues and reduce operational load through automation.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence the data platform roadmap.
