Job summary

CompassX is seeking an experienced data engineer for a short-term, project-based engagement as a 1099 contractor. You will design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using IICS to integrate data from source systems into a warehouse, with a focus on pharma-related data quality and fast delivery.

You’ll optimize data models in Amazon Redshift, write production-grade SQL and Python, and develop Power BI data models for stakeholder reporting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with IICS for data integration.
• Experience with Amazon Redshift as a data warehouse.
• Strong SQL skills and ETL/ELT pipeline design.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering workflows.
• Experience building Power BI data models and reporting layers.
• Comfort with cloud-based data infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Attention to data quality and validation in pharma contexts.
• Strong communication with client stakeholders.
• Bonus: familiarity with Veeva in pharma/life sciences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using IICS to integrate data from source systems into the warehouse.
• Develop and optimize data models and structures within Amazon Redshift.
• Write production-quality SQL and Python to transform, validate, and automate data workflows.
• Build and support Power BI data models for reporting and dashboards for business stakeholders.
• Implement data quality checks and validation logic across pipelines.
• Document data flows, models, and pipeline logic for handoff and maintainability.
• Collaborate with client-side stakeholders and CompassX team, translating technical work into business context.
• Work autonomously within a small team while staying aligned with project goals.
