Job summary

General Motors Company in Austin is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and operate scalable data platforms, combining data engineering with front-end work in React. The role partners with product, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions from ingestion to APIs and intuitive interfaces.

Responsibilities include building batch and streaming pipelines, data warehouses, data services, and secure APIs, plus mentoring peers and contributing to roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data or software engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/Data Science or equivalent.
• Strong SQL and Python/Scala/Java with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience designing production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouses/lakehouse platforms.
• Hands-on experience building front-end applications with React; familiar with TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Develop data models, warehouses, and lakehouse solutions for analytics and applications.
• Build data services and APIs exposing trusted, well-documented data.
• Develop responsive front-end features using React and TypeScript.
• Collaborate with product designers and stakeholders to translate workflows into interfaces.
• Establish data quality checks, observability, lineage, and alerting; resolve pipeline issues.
• Improve performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency across data and apps.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to roadmaps and architecture.
