Job summary

Megazone Cloud US is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead data-driven initiatives in Rochester, NY. You will architect scalable data platforms on Google Cloud, mentor engineers, and drive end-to-end delivery from conception to production.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to define data models, pipelines, and governance, leveraging BigQuery, Dataflow, and Looker to enable analytics and business outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Deep, expert-level proficiency with Python.
• Deep, expert-level proficiency with SQL.
• Hands-on, expert-level experience with BigQuery and the wider Google Cloud data stack.
• Hands-on experience with a SQL transformation framework — Dataform or dbt.
• Deep expertise in designing and architecting scalable data platforms, including batch and streaming ingestion patterns.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code practice — Terraform (or equivalent) and CI/CD.
• Proven ability to lead complex, ambiguous projects from conception to delivery.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and helping to level up the team.
• Exceptional communication skills, the flexibility to think fast, and the credibility to present a decision to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
• A “builder” mindset, a startup mentality, and a genuine thirst for knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own scalable data platforms and pipelines on Google Cloud.
• Drive the strategy for a client's data environment using BigQuery and the Google Cloud data stack.
• Develop clean, optimized, and automated solutions using Python and SQL; enforce code quality.
• Lead technical discussions with clients and cross-functional teams; translate business requirements into technical decisions.
• Prototype solutions, evaluate new services, and surface risks before escalation.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.
• Embrace a startup mindset and shape the technical roadmap for the data platform.
