Job summary

Nationwide-Children is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain production ETL/ELT pipelines and a data lake for genomics, clinical, and imaging data. You will lead data quality frameworks, mentor engineers, and work in a HIPAA/NIST 800-171-compliant setting using AWS, Python, and advanced data modeling.

We seek 5–7 years in data engineering, healthcare/research background preferred, and strong collaboration with researchers and clinicians to enable scientific discovery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of data engineering experience; healthcare/research preferred.
• Strong Python, SQL, and data modeling skills.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and building data pipelines.
• Ability to design scalable ETL/ELT solutions.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Leads the design, development, testing, and maintenance of data pipelines for informatics and genomics analyses.
• Oversees architecture quality, operability, and continuous improvement.
• Mentors junior engineers and partners with research and clinical stakeholders.
• Ensures secure coding practices and regulatory compliance across projects.
