Job summary

Waystar is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Business Data & Architecture team on Google Cloud Platform. You will design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions across the data lifecycle for analytics, reporting, governance, and AI initiatives.

The role emphasizes hands‑on engineering with GCP, BigQuery, dbt, and modern ELT practices to deliver trusted data products for enterprise decision‑making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 5+ years of Data Engineering experience with hands-on cloud work.
• Strong hands-on experience with GCP and BigQuery.
• Deep experience with dbt, ELT, and data modeling.
• Advanced SQL and Python development skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines into BigQuery using Fivetran, APIs, Python, and cloud-native services.
• Develop bronze, silver, and gold data layers following Medallion Architecture.
• Create reusable dbt models for enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Design scalable ingestion patterns and resolve pipeline issues.
• Develop monitoring, observability, and data governance capabilities.
