Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Full Stack Engineer for a remote role (EST preferred). You will design cloud-native apps, build low-latency GraphQL APIs, and develop data pipelines using AWS and big data tools.

The team is small, with two full-time engineers and a consultant resource, enabling close collaboration and rapid delivery. The position requires 10+ years of software engineering experience, strong GraphQL/API skills, and deep AWS expertise.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong GraphQL/API development experience (required).
• Extensive AWS experience, including Lambda, ECS and Glue.
• Strong data engineering background with PySpark, Apache Spark, Snowflake, AWS Glue.
• Experience with DynamoDB and PostgreSQL.
• Expertise in cloud monitoring, observability, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design and build new cloud-native applications and backend services.
• Develop low-latency GraphQL APIs that support enterprise-wide consumption.
• Build and optimize data pipelines leveraging AWS and big data tech.
• Implement monitoring, observability, and reliability best practices.
• Collaborate with a lean team of two engineers and a consultant resource.
