Job summary

Peraton seeks a Senior Data Engineer to drive data migration, deduplication, and ETL/ELT workflows for the FPS2 program at CMS. You will architect and implement migrations into Snowflake, refine data models, and ensure data quality and lineage across multi-source systems.

The role requires extensive experience with large-scale data migrations, SQL, Python, and tools like DBT, Airflow, and SnapLogic, plus familiarity with CMS data environments and Public Trust suitability.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: BS/BA with 16 years experience; MS/MA with 14 years; PhD with 10 years.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python).
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools such as DBT, Apache Airflow, Informatica, SSIS, or SnapLogic.
• Experience with data quality validation, reconciliation testing, and migration verification.
• Familiarity with CMS or federal government data environments and security requirements.
• Ability to obtain or maintain Public Trust suitability.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute end-to-end data migration pipelines to migrate legacy fraud-related data assets into the cloud data warehouse (Snowflake).
• Lead deduplication and record consolidation across CMS source systems (provider, beneficiary, and case/referral records).
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using DBT, Airflow, SnapLogic to support continuous ingestion and transformation.
• Perform data profiling, quality analysis, and validation across source and target environments.
• Define and implement matching/resolution logic to merge duplicate records across systems.
• Collaborate with CMS stakeholders, data architects, and fraud analysts to map source to target state data models.
• Develop data lineage documentation and migration runbooks for governance and audit.
• Tune Snowflake objects for performance and cost efficiency.
• Support data cutover planning and validation checkpoints.
