Job summary

Natera, Inc. is seeking a Senior or Staff Data Engineer to join the Foundations team to build governed, reusable data products that become the single source of truth for core metrics across the company.

You will work hands-on to model data, set governance standards, and shape the foundational layer used by analytics and AI solutions. The role emphasizes design leadership, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and practical delivery in a regulated environment with HIPAA and privacy

Qualifications

• 6+ years of data or software engineering experience (Senior) or 9+ years (Staff).
• Strong fundamentals: version control, testing, code review, CI/CD, modular design.
• Expert-level SQL and strong Python.
• Deep experience with dbt and building scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with a modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake/AWS).
• Experience with PHI/genomic data and governance practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data products, governed models, and trusted views for core metrics.
• Lead design decisions for foundational data layer and architecture.
• Build semantic layers and certified datasets for self-service analytics.
• Develop pipelines with dbt on Snowflake; ensure testing, documentation, and CI/CD.
• Lead data quality, lineage, and governance initiatives across domains.
