Matrix IT Ltd. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Kansas City to own data pipelines, semantic models, and enterprise BI solutions.

You will design ETL/ELT workflows, optimize SQL Server-based environments, and mentor junior engineers while partnering with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision making. The role emphasizes production support, data governance, and the modernization of analytical models, with opportunities to influence data architecture and reporting capabilities

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in CS/IS/Engineering/Data Analytics or related field.
8+ years of data engineering, ETL, warehousing, and analytics experience.
Strong SQL development, design, and performance tuning
Hands-on with semantic modeling, analytical data structures, and BI platforms
Experience supporting production data environments and troubleshooting data issues
Knowledge of dimensional modeling and star schemas
Excellent written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration

Responsibilities

Monitor, support, and enhance enterprise data pipelines for accuracy and availability.
Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT processes and workflows.
Troubleshoot data quality issues and production incidents with minimal business impact.
Maintain data governance and documentation; ensure data lineage and metadata.
Design semantic models and support migration to modern BI platforms.
Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design and query optimization.
Mentor junior data engineers and analysts; promote engineering standards.
