Job summary

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, operate, and improve secure, scalable data solutions on the Modern Data Platform in Seattle. You will translate requirements into production‑ready pipelines, data products, models, and platform capabilities, collaborating with data and AI engineers, analysts, BI, and security specialists.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant data engineering experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Azure data services, Databricks, Snowflake, and dbt Cloud.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory and Fivetran preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support ELT/ETL pipelines across enterprise data sources.
• Implement data quality controls, observability, logging, and security practices for data workloads.
• Collaborate with AI, BI, and security teams to enable AI through data and governance.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and documentation.
