Job summary

McKinsey & Company in Washington, DC seeks a data engineering professional to join a fast-paced, cross-functional team delivering data-driven solutions for defense and security initiatives. You will work on core data frameworks and asset-building within an agile environment, collaborating with data scientists, engineers and industry experts.

The role emphasizes building scalable data pipelines, applying ML/GenAI techniques where appropriate, and contributing to both backend and frontend

Qualifications

Active TS/SCI clearance (or SCI-eligibility), ideally with DoD SAP/SAR access.
Advanced quantitative degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
3+ years of relevant aerospace/defense data engineering experience.
Strong programming skills in Python/Java/Node/Go; knowledge of FastAPI, Pandas and React+TypeScript is a plus.
Experience with ETL, data pipelines, NoSQL graphs, and cloud deployments.

Responsibilities

Collaborate in cross-functional Agile project teams to design and develop data frameworks.
Build assets for defense and security initiatives supporting DoD stakeholders.
Develop backend services and contribute to frontend when needed.
Ensure data quality, testing, and robust, scalable solutions across environments.
