Job summary

Dermalogica is seeking a Senior Data Engineer Data Quality & Systems Forensics to strengthen its global data environment. This hands-on role focuses on investigating data discrepancies across ERP systems, e-commerce platforms, data warehouses, and reporting layers, tracing issues to root causes, and implementing durable fixes.

You will inherit a prioritized backlog, own remediation through to validation and backfill, and work across IT, Finance, and external partners to ensure trusted analytics.

Qualifications

• 7 years of hands-on data engineering or related production experience.
• Deep experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T‑SQL.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouse architectures.
• Diagnosing and resolving data integrity incidents, not only building new pipelines.
• Ability to take an ambiguous problem and determine source of truth.
• Experience tracing data across multiple systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and root cause data discrepancies across source systems and data warehouses.
• Trace data end-to-end to identify where transformations produce incorrect results.
• Own and close a backlog of data quality issues from investigation to remediation.
• Audit SQL jobs, stored procedures, and ETL processes for fragile or undocumented behavior.
• Eliminate hardcoded rules, silent failures, and incomplete loads.
• Correct issues at the correct architectural layer rather than patching downstream.
• Recover historical data and reconcile results to source systems.
• Improve master data mappings where inconsistent logic affects reporting.
• Replace manual data processes with governed, automated pipelines.
• Build automated reconciliation checks and alerting for data failures.
• Improve dependency management, reload processes and change controls.
• Document data lineage and system dependencies as cleanup proceeds.
• Collaborate with IT, Finance, and vendors to drive issues to resolution.
• Communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
