Job summary

LegalZoom.com, Inc. seeks a Staff Data Engineer to design, scale, and own robust data pipelines and platforms powering analytics and products. You will collaborate with Data Science, Engineering, and Product, mentor the team, and drive technical excellence across the org.

You will design scalable ETL/ELT processes, model data to support business needs, and lead best practices in CI/CD, data quality, and observability. Remote-friendly hybrid setup with multiple office options may apply.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and maintaining complex data systems at scale.
• Expert-level SQL with strong data modeling and transformation experience.
• Hands-on dbt experience for data transformation and modeling.
• Experience with Airflow for orchestrating data workflows.
• Experience with Fivetran including custom connector development.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering tasks.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, data quality, and governance.
• Ability to lead engineering teams in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Architect new data models to support business needs.
• Lead data engineering best practices including CI/CD and observability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align data solutions with business goals.
• Mentor data engineers and data scientists and foster learning.
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Handle on-call incidents as part of rotation.
