Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build a trusted data foundation powering decision-making across the organization. You will design and scale data models and pipelines, champion data governance, and provide technical leadership across Product, Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering teams.

You will own end-to-end lifecycle of metrics and data products, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive data strategy to enable self-service analytics and AI-native insights.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with emphasis on data architecting, modeling, and metadata management
• Proven ability to structure and own ambiguous, high-impact problems end-to-end
• Strong autonomy, resourcefulness, and creativity under constraints
• Deep expertise in SQL and scalable data pipelines across large datasets
• Track record of architecting data models, schemas, and processing workflows for performance and reliability
• Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams without relying solely on formal authority
• Proficiency in Python or Java and hands-on experience with large-scale data technologies
• Experience with relational and NoSQL stores, various modeling approaches, and SDLC/Agile practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Preferred: Bachelor's in CS/Engineering or related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product and stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data models and metrics
• Build foundational datasets that are trusted and aligned with business strategy
• Design, develop, and scale data models and pipelines across multiple sources
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of metrics and data products from prototyping to production and maintenance
• Leverage AI-assisted development to accelerate engineering while upholding data quality
• Lead data strategy and governance initiatives across teams and domains
• Promote access to trusted company metrics enabling self-service analytics
• Establish best practices in data engineering across the organization
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across Slack
