Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a data engineer to design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data ingestion frameworks for performance and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data requirements into robust technical solutions.

Responsibilities include building AWS-based data infrastructure, implementing governance, and mentoring junior engineers while participating in architectural discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 4 to 6 years of data engineering experience with scalable ingestion frameworks.
• Proficiency in ETL development using Python, PySpark, Hadoop, and Spark.
• Strong SQL knowledge with Postgres, Redshift or MySQL.
• Experience with AWS DynamoDB, EMR Serverless, Lambda.
• Knowledge of data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data ingestion frameworks for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional value stream teams, analysts, business stakeholders, architects, and testers to refine data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Build scalable AWS data infrastructure supporting data-driven reporting across the organization and external vendors.
• Implement data governance and security best practices.
• Troubleshoot data integrity and performance issues.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex projects.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and design discussions.
• Advise on strategic initiatives to mitigate core data application issues and automate processes.
• Stay current with data engineering trends and technologies and apply them to improve the data framework.
• Collaborate with colleagues on best practices and resolution of data application issues.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
