Job summary

Koniag Government Services is seeking a Principal Data Engineer with a TS/SCI eligibility to lead enterprise-scale data initiatives for DoW-focused workloads in Washington, DC. You will architect data platforms, guide AI/ML workloads, and collaborate with senior government and contractor teams to deliver secure, scalable data solutions.

The role demands extensive experience in data engineering, cloud architectures, and the ability to translate mission requirements into production-ready data

Qualifications

• TS/SCI eligible
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or closely related technical discipline
• 10–15+ years of progressively responsible technical experience delivering enterprise-scale data solutions
• Demonstrated experience as a senior/principal/lead/architect-level data engineer
• Expert-level Python and SQL proficiency
• Experience with modern data engineering technologies (Spark, Databricks, Kafka, Airflow)
• Experience architecting cloud-based data solutions in AWS/Azure or similar
• Knowledge of data lake/lakehouse/data mesh architectures
• Experience building production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines with many heterogeneous data sources
• Familiar with APIs, microservices, CI/CD, DevSecOps

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior AI2 technical authority for enterprise data engineering and AI-enabled infrastructure
• Design scalable data architectures for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
• Architect and develop ETL/ELT pipelines, data products, APIs, streaming solutions
• Support ML/AI workloads and large-scale analytics
• Design data architectures for cloud/hybrid/government environments with security and governance
• Lead integration of diverse government and contractor data sources
• Develop data models, metadata, lineage, and data governance mechanisms
• Optimize data platforms for performance, reliability, cost, and scalability
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, cybersecurity, cloud architects, and stakeholders
• Provide architectural guidance and participate in technology selection and reviews
