Koniag Government Services is seeking a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to provide senior‑level cybersecurity engineering, architecture, and leadership for DoW mission systems in Washington, DC. The role focuses on secure enterprise architectures, cloud and data security, and rapid modernization while reducing technical risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• Approximately 10–15+ years of cybersecurity/security engineering experience.
• Senior/lead/architect level experience in government or regulated environments.
• Experience designing secure enterprise systems within DoW/IC/government.
• Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity architecture and engineering principles.
• Strong DoW RMF and NIST standards knowledge.
• Expertise with NIST SP 800‑53 and security controls.
• Zero Trust architecture implementation experience.
• Cloud security across AWS/Azure and classified environments.
• IAM, PKI, encryption, and data protection expertise.
• DevSecOps integration and secure SDLC.
• Ability to communicate risk and tradeoffs to executives and engineers.
• Proven independent technical leadership on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior cybersecurity authority for DoW-scale systems and data platforms.
• Develop and evaluate architectures for cloud, hybrid, and classified environments.
• Integrate security across the system development lifecycle and DevSecOps.
• Design and implement Zero Trust and data-centric security controls.
• Lead security architecture for AI, data platforms, and analytics initiatives.
• Identify vulnerabilities and architectural risks across complex systems.
• Support security across AWS, Azure, and government cloud environments.
• Lead IAM, privileged access, encryption, and key management efforts.
• Collaborate with data, software, AI/ML engineers and cloud teams.
• Guide security authorization and risk-based decision making.
• Evaluate AI/ML security implications and emerging technologies.
• Advise leadership on risk, tradeoffs, and mitigations.
• Review system security plans and technical designs.
