Job summary

Federato is building an AI-native insurance platform and seeks a data engineer to join a small, high-impact team within the AI/ML org. You’ll help design robust ETL pipelines, scalable data infrastructure, and internal frameworks that enable ML engineers to deploy and iterate AI-powered features.

You’ll collaborate with data science, product, and software engineers, enforce engineering best practices, and help maintain data quality, observability, and tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or backend roles.
• Experience designing scalable data pipelines (Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect).
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Terraform).
• Experience with version control and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with dbt testing strategies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Data Science, Product Managers and Software Engineers to build robust ETL pipelines.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, observability tooling, and data quality initiatives.
• Contribute to a scalable internal framework for managing AI workflows.
• Enforce and elevate engineering best practices across the AI/ML org, including testing and docs.
