Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline seeks a Staff Data Engineer to design and evolve the governed context layer used by humans and AI agents across Enterprise AI (EAI). You will set standards for data architecture, governance, and lifecycle management, enabling reliable, scalable AI data pipelines.

The role emphasizes collaboration with data engineers, ML engineers, and platform teams to deliver consistent, enterprise-wide data foundations for AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS or data engineering.
• 10+ years data engineering, incl. data architecture for AI/ML systems.
• Experience building AI data infrastructure: feature stores, vectors, retrieval, streaming.
• Experience with context/semantic infra: catalogs, glossaries, ontologies via MCP.

Responsibilities

• Owns the governed context layer as the shared foundation for humans and digital workers.
• Define architecture standards and frameworks for agent-generated data engineering.
• Shape EAI's data infrastructure strategy across features, vectors, and data lifecycles.
• Define data governance standards for privacy, auditability, and bias controls.
