Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking a data engineer on the Embedded Data Engineering team to design and curate datasets from internal and third-party sources for a growing product ecosystem. You will work with engineers, analytics, data science, and ML teams to build scalable data warehouses and data products that power insights.

You will own data quality, implement the modern stack (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow), and explore AI-enabled workflows to accelerate development.

Qualifications

4+ years designing and building data sets and warehouses.
Excellent ability to collaborate with stakeholders especially Analytics.
Expertise in SQL for analytics and ETL transforms.
Experience designing and maintaining a data warehouse and data marts.
Expertise with a modern data stack (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow).
Experience using AI to generate design plans, code, and documentation.

Responsibilities

Refine and evangelize data-thinking in the software development lifecycle for product teams.
Design and maintain core datasets, data marts, and feature stores for product teams.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to engineer datasets with strong discipline.
Improve data quality and apply best practices across business areas.
Build next-gen data products and leverage AI-enabled workflows to speed development.
