Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Austin team and scale internal data products. You’ll build data-driven applications that empower go-to-market, engineering, and product teams, taking ownership from requirements to long-term stewardship.

You will work on scalable, reliable data pipelines using Go, Scala, and ClickHouse, with AI components and modern infrastructure. Collaboration across the data and product orgs is essential for success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or software engineering building production data systems.
• Strong programming expertise in Go, Python, or JVM‑based languages, with production-grade services and pipelines.
• Deep knowledge of SQL and data modeling, and experience with relational/analytic/ vector databases.
• Experience building scalable, reliable, observable data pipelines with attention to data quality and operations.
• Proven problem‑solving and communication skills, with cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core components of data pipelines and services in Go and Scala, focusing on scalability and long‑term maintainability.
• Partner with engineers, analysts, and product stakeholders to design solutions for strategic data initiatives and AI architectures.
• Contribute to evolving data platform architecture to improve scalability, reliability, observability, and data correctness.
• Build and curate high‑quality, well‑modeled datasets powering internal products, predictive analytics, and AI features at scale.
• Develop understanding of the data ecosystem and collaborate with data/system engineers across locations to improve ingestion, quality, and governance.
• Lead by example through design reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentorship to raise technical bar.
