Job summary

Wawa, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer, AI to design scalable data solutions on our enterprise data platform. You will build Snowflake-native pipelines, integrate real-time and batch data, and guide AI agents while ensuring quality and security across the data product stack.

You will collaborate with Analytics, Data Governance, and business partners to deliver reliable data services and maintain cost-effective warehouse operations in a fast-paced AI-augmented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering.
• 5+ years of database and data integration experience.
• 3+ years implementing data models (logical, physical, and dimensional).
• 3+ years developing Enterprise Data & Analytics on a modern cloud platform; Snowflake required.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; experience with open-source data solutions.
• Hands-on experience building Snowflake-native pipelines in an AWS environment.
• Experience operating Snowflake at scale with cost monitoring and query optimization.
• Knowledge of data security principles.
• Experience with data observability tools (Monte Carlo, Great Expectations).
• Ability to review code critically and mentor junior engineers.
• Experience with AI-augmented development or directing AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines across Raw/Refined/Data Product layers.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and end-to-end designs.
• Apply data modeling standards and assess data set quality.
• Deliver data products that meet quality SLAs and ownership rules.
• Maintain Snowflake-native transformations with version control and CI/CD.
• Optimize warehouse cost and performance through tuning and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Data Governance on certification and quality remediation.
• Validate data against quality rules and summarize root causes.
• Partner with Analytics/Data Science to enable self-service data services.
• Follow security standards and contribute to technical direction.
