Remote (U.S.-Based | Must Work 9 - 5 EST Hours)
Zaddy Solutions is partnering with a confidential client in the healthcare space to identify a Senior Data Engineer for a high-impact, highly collaborative role at the intersection of data engineering, software development, automation, and business‑facing problem‑solving. The team is focusing on responsible AI usage, scrappiness, and practical execution, so we need someone who is comfortable stepping into a broad, hands‑on role and making meaningful contributions quickly. This is not the right opportunity for someone who wants to stay in a narrow technical lane; the ideal candidate will be a strong builder who can move across data pipelines, workflow automation, software‑oriented problem‑solving, event‑driven systems, and cross‑functional project work with business stakeholders.
Overview
This role is best described as a hybrid technical builder. Data engineering is core, but the scope includes working in a GCP/BigQuery environment, ensuring the right data pipelines, structures, and workflows are in place while also supporting applications and operational processes built on top of that data foundation. The team values dynamic, automation‑oriented workflows, including orchestration, triggered actions, connected data feeds, and AI‑enabled use cases.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build, maintain, and improve data pipelines and data structures in a GCP/BigQuery environment
- Help create the right foundation for applications and workflows built on top of the warehouse
- Support automation‑focused initiatives that improve scale, efficiency, and responsiveness across the business
- Work with event‑driven or event‑streaming patterns to support connected systems and real‑time data movement
- Contribute to AI‑enabled workflows, including orchestration, triggered actions, predictive outreach, and connected data feeds
- Partner with business stakeholders and technical teammates to translate needs into practical, scalable solutions
- Help ensure data is accurate, reliable, maintainable, and useful across downstream applications and decision‑making
- Operate as a self‑starter who can move work forward without excessive structure or hand‑holding
- Communicate clearly across technical and non‑technical audiences
- Contribute wherever needed in a scrappy, evolving environment where priorities may span software, data, and business‑facing project work
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is technically strong, highly adaptable, and comfortable owning work across a broad surface area.
Helpful Backgrounds
- Data engineers with meaningful software engineering depth
- Software engineers who have worked heavily in data systems or data platforms
- Engineers from healthcare tech, SaaS, or other fast‑moving environments where automation and operational data matter
- Individuals who have supported internal tools, operational workflows, or customer‑ or client‑facing technical initiatives
- Builders comfortable in ambiguous environments and who do not require every requirement to be perfectly mapped out in advance
Strong Candidates Will Likely Bring
- Significant experience in data engineering, software development, or a blend of both
- Strong experience with Google BigQuery and the broader GCP environment
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Experience building and maintaining modern data pipelines and data workflows
- Comfort working in environments where expectations extend beyond pure ETL or warehouse management
- Exposure to or experience with event‑driven architecture, event streaming, or real‑time data movement patterns
- Experience working with business stakeholders and translating operational needs into technical solutions
- A practical interest in automation, orchestration, and AI‑enabled workflows
- Strong communication skills and the ability to operate independently
- A scrappy, solution‑oriented mindset with a bias toward action
Success in This Role Will Look Like
- Building reliable pipelines and systems that support downstream workflows and decision‑making
- Improving automation and reducing manual effort where it makes sense
- Helping the business connect data more effectively to action
- Communicating clearly with stakeholders and earning trust quickly
- Operating with independence while still collaborating well across functions
- Bringing a builder mindset to a team that values scrappiness and practical execution
