Job summary

The Musco Information Technology team in Oskaloosa, IA, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions, and scalable data architectures.

Ideal candidates bring 5–7 years of experience, cloud-based data integration expertise, and strong leadership to mentor teammates while promoting data governance and security across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions, and data architectures.
  • Experience developing cloud-based data integration and analytics solutions using modern data engineering technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of data architecture, modeling, integration, and engineering principles for scalable, high-performing data solutions.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve data and technology challenges.
  • Promote data quality, governance, security, and privacy best practices for trusted data assets.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to grow the team.
  • Communicate complex concepts effectively and collaborate across teams.
  • Work independently, prioritize, and own responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Create, maintain, and share clear technical documentation.

  • Design and implement enterprise semantic and ontology models for analytics, AI, and LLM-driven solutions.
  • Establish and maintain data quality and validation frameworks ensuring trusted data across the organization.
  • Partner with stakeholders to design data pipelines aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Architect scalable data engineering patterns and optimize data solutions for performance and maintainability.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD processes and engineering best practices for data solutions.
  • Integrate data lineage, metadata management, and observability into data solutions.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions, and data architectures.

  • Experience developing cloud-based data integration and analytics solutions using modern data engineering technologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of data architecture, modeling, integration, and engineering principles with the ability to design scalable, maintainable, and high-performing data solutions that support analytics and AI initiatives.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex data and technology challenges.

  • Ability to promote data quality, governance, security, and privacy best practices to ensure trusted, compliant, and well-managed data assets.

  • Ability to provide technical leadership, conduct knowledge sharing, and mentor less experienced team members to support engineering excellence and team growth.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively and build collaborative relationships across business and technology teams to achieve shared objectives.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and take ownership of responsibilities in a dynamic and evolving environment.

  • Ability to create, maintain, and share clear technical documentation that supports operational effectiveness, solution sustainability, and organizational knowledge transfer.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with Musco solutions is a plus.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Design and implement enterprise semantic and ontology models that enable advanced analytics, AI, and LLM-driven solutions.

  • Establish and maintain enterprise data quality and validation frameworks that identify, monitor, and communicate data integrity issues, ensuring trusted and reliable data across the organization.

  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to design data pipelines and solutions that align with evolving business needs and strategic objectives.

  • Architect scalable data engineering patterns and optimize data solutions for performance, scalability, observability, and long-term maintainability across data warehouses and lake houses.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD processes, deployment standards, and engineering best practices that support reliable and efficient delivery of semantic models and data solutions.

  • Integrate data lineage, metadata management, and observability capabilities into data solutions to improve transparency, traceability, and operational effectiveness.

  • Contribute to enterprise data governance, security, and compliance initiatives by implementing data access controls, including Row Level Security (RLS), and promoting adherence to organizational standards.

  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to elevate engineering practices and support the development of data modeling and analytics engineering capabilities.
