Job summary

Musco Sports Lighting in Oskaloosa, IA, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the RMA Operations Team in Manufacturing. You will set up and maintain production lines, repair and upgrade Musco products, and assist technicians in diagnostics and repairs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and experience with microcontroller-based products, electronics manufacturing, and automated test systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with the design or manufacturing of microprocessor- or microcontroller-based products required.
  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment is ideal.
  • Experience developing automated test systems is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in component-level troubleshooting and repair of electronic products is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup of new production line equipment used to test, repair, and upgrade Musco products.
  • Assist in the design, construction, and maintenance of test fixtures and test systems, including hardware, software, and mechanical components, as needed.
  • Troubleshoot product failures and perform root-cause analysis on Musco electronic products returned from customer facilities.
  • Collect repair data and maintain accurate repair records and databases.
  • Provide feedback to product development teams regarding design corrections, product enhancements, and recurring failure trends.
  • Assist in developing and documenting troubleshooting and repair protocols.
  • Perform repairs on returned devices in accordance with established quality and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to operations and repair technicians.

The Musco RMA Operations Team has an opening for an Electrical Engineer - Manufacturing at our Oskaloosa office. This position will be responsible for the setup and maintenance of production lines used to repair and upgrade products returned from customer facilities. This role also assists technicians in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electronic products to support safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.   • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with the design or manufacturing of microprocessor- or microcontroller-based products required.
  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment is ideal.
  • Experience developing automated test systems is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in component-level troubleshooting and repair of electronic products is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with switching power supplies is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to design, construct, and maintain test fixtures and test systems for microcontroller-based products.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits to the component level using schematics and common test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn, and a self-motivated approach to work.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to mentor operations and repair technicians.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
