Job summary

Wellington Management in Boston seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and scale data-driven solutions for the Science Analysts, with a focus on the Equity space. You will work in the Science Research Technology team to advance data architecture and data workflows.

The role requires strong Python, SQL, ETL/ELT, and cloud experience (AWS). Collaboration with data scientists and researchers, Agile delivery, and end-to-end ownership are expected.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in data science and building data-driven solutions.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL with ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience with Airflow, Glue or similar orchestration tools.
  • Proficient in AWS services (S3, Lambda, Batch).
  • Experience with modern data architectures (Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric).
  • Knowledge of data modeling, warehousing and governance best practices.
  • Familiar with CI/CD, Git workflows, Docker and modern software practices.
  • Hands-on cloud experience (AWS preferred) and high-volume data pipelines.
  • Financial services data domain knowledge is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Able to work in Agile, fast-paced environments; proactive problem solver.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience.

About the Role

Senior Data Engineer

POSITION

As part of continued growth, a new opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Engineer. As a member of the Science Research Technology team, this individual will help design, build, and scale data‑driven solutions for the Science Analysts, especially in the Equity space.

Qualifications
  • Strong experience in Data Science
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with SQL.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows using tools such as Airflow, Glue or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms, especially AWS (S3, Lambda, Batch).
  • Experience with one or more modern data architectures (Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, data governance, and metadata management best practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git‑based workflows, containerization (Docker), and modern software engineering practices.
  • Hands‑on experience developing, deploying, and testing solutions in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
  • Strong experience debugging, optimizing, and performance‑tuning high‑volume data pipelines.
  • Financial‑services data domain expertise is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with cross‑functional teams including data scientists, researchers, and business partners.
  • Ability to work in Agile environments and deliver in fast‑paced, mission‑critical settings.
  • Proactive problem solver who can independently drive solutions end‑to‑end.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: USD 90,000 – 180,000. Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/or Incentives, if eligible.
