Job summary

U.S. News & World Report is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Developer on the Hospital Data Insights team. You will design and maintain data pipelines, Python services and data workflows, collaborating with product owners to deliver data-driven hospital insights.

An AI-first mindset and experience with PostgreSQL, AWS and React will be crucial for success. You will work on data correctness, pipeline automation and production operations, contributing across backend, data and UI layers as part

Qualifications

Five or more years of professional software development experience with ownership of production backend or data systems.
Strong Python experience building and maintaining services, batch jobs or data tooling.
Significant experience with PostgreSQL at scale—writing queries, migrations, troubleshooting.
Hands-on ETL or data pipeline ownership—data modeling, batch processing, automation.
Experience owning APIs or backend services consumed by applications or internal customers.
Working knowledge of React or similar SPA frameworks for full-stack collaboration.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot) or AI features in software.
Comfort with Unix-based environments and Git with modern code review practices.
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

.Design, build and operate data pipelines and backend services powering hospital insights products.
Improve ETL automation, monitoring and data quality as volumes grow.
Collaborate with engineering leadership and stakeholders through releases.
Use AI-first approach to investigation, implementation and code review.
Develop and maintain clean, well-tested code and pragmatic architecture decisions.
Mentor others and promote overall team and technical quality.
Collaborate with product owners to understand requirements for new features.
