Job summary

Oracle is seeking a dedicated technician in Allen, Texas for a 24/7/365 on-site position. You will identify upgrade opportunities, mentor junior technicians, and ensure data-center procedures are followed. Communication and technical skills are essential for resolving technical issues and leading project collaborations.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of data-center experience; 1 year of development experience.
  • Experience in data‑center infrastructure projects.
  • 1+ year experience in structured cabling and cable testing.

Job Description

Identifies opportunities for others to replace or upgrade server components. Validates cabling, checking network environment build and connectivity is established. Monitors and assigns work in a ticketing environment, mentoring lower‑level technicians and implementing technical solutions. Trains team on advanced repair techniques aligned with corporate objectives and adheres to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methods of procedures (MOPs) for data‑center change control processes. Acts as a technical liaison between technical and non‑technical teams, providing subject‑matter expertise to resolve resiliency, reliability, and availability risks.

Responsibilities
  • Identifies opportunities for others to replace or upgrade server components.
  • Validates cabling and network build, ensuring devices are correctly connected and error‑free.
  • Monitors and assigns work in a ticketing system, mentors junior technicians, and implements solutions to meet SLA requirements.
  • Trains the team on advanced repair techniques and SOP/MOP compliance.
  • Provides technical liaison to resolve reliability and availability risks.
  • Ensures adherence to SOPs, MOPs, security procedures and health & safety regulations.
  • Conducts continuous improvement by identifying trends, escalating issues, and enhancing processes.
  • Co‑ordinates with vendors and contractors to meet service level agreements.
  • Leads collaboration with project teams and colocation partners on installation, testing, and performance of electrical and mechanical systems.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware systems.
  • Experience with RAID, Linux/Unix, CLI, and other IT hardware concepts.
  • Excellent time‑management, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb a 9‑ft ladder, stand and walk for extended periods, and work 10–12 hour shifts.
  • Rotate shift schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience with mainstream ticketing systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as required and consent to biometric data disclosure for identity verification and access control.
  • Strong interest in learning new data‑center concepts and technology.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and capable of working independently or in a team.

Note: This is a 24/7/365 on‑site position requiring day/night shift, weekend, holiday work, and occasional travel.

Certain U.S. based or U.S. customer or client‑facing roles may require compliance with immunization or occupational health mandates and/or drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2‑year or 4‑year degree or relevant work experience.
  • 2 years of data‑center experience; 1 year of development experience.
  • Knowledge of Linux administration and command‑line usage.
  • Data‑center networking knowledge.
  • Experience in data‑center infrastructure projects.
  • 1+ year experience in structured cabling (copper/fiber) and cable testing.
  • 1+ year experience in cooling and electrical systems concepts inside a data centre.
  • Experience repairing Oracle servers (nice to have).
