Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Hardware Engineer to design, prototype, and bring to production mechanical and thermal systems for robotics in AWS data centers.

You will own hardware from early sketches through CAD, CFD validation, prototype builds, supplier engagement, and production ramp, collaborating with robotics, electrical, and ML engineers to ensure robust, manufacturable designs. The role requires strong CAD/CFD capabilities, experience with prototyping, and a focus on DFM/DFA.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical/Aerospace/Manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of hardware engineering experience in hardware-centric environments.
• Experience with CAD modelling software such as SolidWorks or MATLAB.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation in hardware programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware engineering from concept through design, validation, and production ramp.
• Apply analytical and quantitative skills, using data to back up decisions and business cases.
• Collaborate with robotics software, electrical, and ML teams to meet sensor mounting, thermal, and serviceability requirements.
• Champion DFM/ DFA and drive continuous improvement after hardware is in the field.
• Identify bottlenecks, manage risks, and communicate program status to stakeholders.
• Create and disseminate program information to cross-functional teams.
