Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Hardware Engineer to design, prototype, and bring to production mechanical and thermal systems enabling robots to operate reliably in data centers.

You will own hardware from concept sketches through prototype builds, CFD validation, supplier reviews, and production ramp. Collaboration with robotics software, electrical, and ML engineers is essential to meet sensor mounting, thermal budgets, and serviceability requirements.

Qualifications

• Mechanical design experience for robotics in data centers.
• Experience with CFD/FEA to validate thermal and mechanical concepts.
• Ability to implement design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA).

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts from design, testing and validation to at-scale deployment.
• Apply analytical skills; use data and metrics to back up assumptions and build business cases.
• Collaborate with customers, sponsors, engineers, and teams to define and deliver complex solutions.
• Proactively identify opportunities to simplify processes.
• Coordinate cross-group teamwork and communication across competing priorities.
• Anticipate bottlenecks, manage escalation, and balance business needs with technical constraints.
• Identify, assess, track, and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels.
• Create, maintain, and share program information with stakeholders.
