Job summary

Anthropic seeks a Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer to lead design direction for cooling, plumbing and fire protection systems in a rapidly expanding U.S. data center portfolio.

You will oversee conceptual to construction-level detailing, ensuring reliability, efficiency and scalability while interfacing with internal teams and external partners. The role emphasizes modular and prefabricated approaches to maximize speed and minimize onsite labor, with deep familiarity of U.S.

Qualifications

• Have 10+ years of experience designing building mechanical systems for data centers or mission‑critical facilities, across the project lifecycle from concept design through construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Familiar with US mechanical, plumbing, and fire codes and standards (IMC, IPC, IECC, IBC, NFPA 13, ASME B31, ASHRAE TC 9.9) and related guidance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; PE license (or eligibility) is valued but not required.

Responsibilities

• Drive mechanical design concepts for data center cooling plants, chilled-water distribution, liquid cooling, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Review and direct design drawings and construction documents produced by external firms.
• Coordinate with vendors and external partners to align designs with program requirements and redundancy targets.
• Monitor construction and commissioning to ensure compliance with design intent and applicable codes.
