Job summary

Lambda, The Superintelligence Cloud, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own design standards for large-scale AI data centers in the SF Bay Area. You will develop cooling architectures, design central plants, and size chillers, pumps, and related systems while coordinating with electrical, controls, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for data centers or large industrial facilities.
• Understand hydronic systems, heat transfer, chilled-water, water treatment.
• Able to develop and review P&IDs, layouts, equipment schedules, specs, calculations.
• Understand redundancy, maintainability, and operational requirements.
• Able to evaluate system performance across weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design standards and reference architectures for large-scale AI data centers.
• Develop cooling architectures for greenfield, retrofit, and partner facilities.
• Design central plants, heat-rejection systems, hydronic distribution, and direct-to-chip cooling.
• Perform cooling-load, heat-transfer, hydraulic, and related calculations.
• Review P&IDs, equipment schedules, layouts, and sequences of operation.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with electrical, controls, and construction teams.
• Support equipment selection, long-lead procurement, testing, and commissioning.
• Investigate cooling failures and feed lessons back into designs.
