Job summary

Switch is seeking a DCO Facilities Technician III to support 24x7 data center operations. You will lead preventative and corrective maintenance on power and cooling systems, troubleshoot complex infrastructure, and mentor junior technicians on site.

The role requires advanced knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems, OSHA NFPA safety training, and the ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and holidays.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in facilities, electrical, mechanical, or electronics environments, including at least 4 years in mechanical or electrical systems.
• Technical trade school training in mechanical, electrical, or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Advanced familiarity with generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS, ATS/STS, PDUs, CRAC/CRAH, pumps, cooling, and fire suppression.
• OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, First Aid or CPR, and site safety training within designated timeframes.
• Additional HVAC or EPA certifications preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and working near live equipment.

Responsibilities

• Act as a first responder to critical infrastructure alarms including UPS, generators, fluid coolers, pumps, temperature alerts, and related systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power and cooling infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and environmental control systems, including Modbus and structured cabling connections.
• Replace and maintain UPS batteries, generator batteries, and air handling unit batteries.
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as thermal imaging equipment to assess system performance.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing and commissioning activities when assigned.
• Oversee vendor and contractor work to ensure compliance with Switch standards and safety policies.
• Complete work orders accurately and on time within the CMMS.
• Participate in development and improvement of operational procedures and documentation.
• Conduct formal training sessions and mentor Technician I and II team members.
• Participate in site committees and continuous improvement initiatives.
