Job summary

OpenAI seeks an experienced Data Center Electrical R&D Engineer to develop and validate next-generation power architectures for high-density AI infrastructure. You will research, design, prototype, and validate systems for utility interconnection, rack-level power delivery, and integrated power/cooling solutions.

You will collaborate with hardware, controls, mechanical, and external partners to move concepts from simulation to pilot testing and large-scale deployment, shaping reusable reference

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• 10+ years in electrical engineering, power-system design, or data-center infrastructure.
• Experience with power-system modeling, short-circuit analysis, and protection.
• Ability to translate requirements into testable engineering concepts and architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced electrical architectures for high-density AI data centers, from utility interconnection through rack-level power delivery.
• Translate compute-platform requirements into electrical capacity, topology, redundancy, and control requirements.
• Model electrical-system performance, capacity, efficiency, reliability, fault conditions, and transient behavior.
• Lead testing and validation across lab, pilot-site, and field environments.
