Job summary

Uber is seeking a Data Center Engineer to drive electrical design, retrofit projects, and technical operations across our on-prem and cloud data centers. You will shape standards, review designs, and support outages with a focus on uptime and efficiency.

Candidates should have a BS in electrical or architectural engineering, 8+ years in data center design/ops, travel 25–50%, and a track record delivering mission-critical power and cooling solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• B.S. in electrical or architectural engineering.
• Minimum 8 years in data center design, construction and operations; PE preferred.
• Willingness to travel 25–50% to data center sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design for electrical retrofits and document criteria.
• Develop cost analyses and business cases for electrical upgrades.
• Review test scripts and commissioning activities; support outages and incidents.
• Travel to data center sites to oversee retrofits and refreshes.
• Collaborate to establish standards for electrical systems and data hall operations.
• Support power, cooling and network connectivity outages as needed.
