Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a hands-on BI Analyst to design, build, and maintain Power BI reports with advanced DAX and semantic models. You will use Snowflake SQL for pipelines and data quality checks, and develop KPI-driven analytics to support business initiatives.

You will partner with senior leaders to translate questions into technical solutions, manage service desk requests, prioritize work, and ensure data quality across reporting platforms in a retail/entertainment multi-location context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on Power BI with advanced DAX, measures, and semantic model design.
• Experience building financial performance analytics and deriving insights.
• Snowflake experience preferred; strong SQL without Snowflake accepted.
• Exposure to AI platforms or tools, including AI-assisted analytics and LLM-based tools.
• Familiarity with retail, entertainment, franchise, or multi-location operations.
• Advanced SQL skills with CTEs, joins, aggregations, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with star schemas and data modeling concepts.
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate requirements into solutions.
• Strong Excel skills and data manipulation capabilities.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Write and maintain Snowflake SQL for reporting pipelines, data quality checks, and ad hoc analysis requests
• Develop performance analytics around KPIs and other metrics to support key business initiatives
• Partner with senior and executive stakeholders to gather requirements and translate ambiguous business questions into technical specifications and solutions
• Own intake, triage, and execution of Power BI reporting service desk requests
• Prioritize requests and communicate status and timelines to stakeholders
• Troubleshoot data quality issues and discrepancies across reporting platforms
• Work cross-functionally to resolve root causes
• Maintain and improve documentation for reporting logic, data definitions, and BI assets
• Coordinate with internal IT and data teams to maintain and improve reporting integrity

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field preferred, or equivalent practical experience
• Exceptional hands-on experience with Power BI, including advanced DAX, measures, calculated columns, and semantic model design
• Experience building financial performance analytics and deriving insights that drive business value
• Experience with Snowflake preferred; strong SQL without Snowflake experience will still be considered
• Exposure to AI platforms or tools, including AI-assisted analytics and LLM-based tools
• Familiarity with retail, entertainment, franchise, or multi-location operations businesses
• Advanced SQL skills, including CTEs, joins, aggregations, and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with star schemas, fact/dimension tables, and semantic model design
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Strong Excel skills, including data connections, data manipulation, pivot tables, and formulas
• Solid written and verbal communication skills, with comfort presenting to senior and executive stakeholders
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working on a computer and communicating via phone and Teams, with or without reasonable accommodation
