Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer / Data Modeler to shape our enterprise data architecture. You will design Medallion architectures, star/snowflake schemas, and metadata-driven models to support data warehouses and analytics initiatives.

The role combines hands-on development with collaboration across data teams, focusing on ELT/ETL alignment, streaming ingestion, and scalable data structures using AWS services and Snowflake. Strong SQL, Python, and AI awareness are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics or closely related field required.
• Experience in AWS services for data and analytics required.
• 5+ years of Data Ingestion, Data Extraction, and Data Integration required.
• 5+ years hands-on with AWS services (S3, Kinesis, Lambda, Athena, Glue, EMR) required.
• 5+ years analytics tools like SAS, R, Python and other statistical software.
• Experience with JSON or XML data modeling required.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and modern source code management methodologies.
• Experience with Machine Learning and AI.
• Domain knowledge of NoSQL or relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Medallion Architecture and dimensional models for enterprise data warehouses.
• Develop canonical data models with SCD handling techniques to meet analytics needs.
• Write and optimize SQL queries in Snowflake for efficient data processing.
• Align data models with ELT/ETL pipelines and analytics frameworks.
• Ingest data from relational databases, files, and web services; enable streaming with Kinesis and Kafka.
• Build Data Lake on AWS S3 with partitioning and compression; work with AWS Glue, EMR, Spark, Athena.
