Job summary

CI&T is seeking a Data Architect Senior to lead a US-based EdTech data initiative. You will guide data team members through architecture decisions, data lakehouse models, governance, and delivery, while collaborating with client stakeholders and maintaining technical direction.

The role emphasizes hands-on technical leadership rather than traditional management, with a focus on end-to-end data product lifecycles and DataOps practices. The position supports flexible nearshore delivery hours.

Qualifications

• Advanced English proficiency (C1+) mandatory for daily engagement with North American stakeholders.
• Proven experience in data architecture design and hands-on technical leadership of multidisciplinary data teams.
• Solid experience designing, building, and deploying data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, and data products at scale.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks—Delta Lake and Unity Catalog—or equivalent depth on AWS data services.
• Strong data modeling skills across dimensional (Kimball) and relational approaches, with advanced SQL.
• Experience with pipeline orchestration and workflow automation (dbt, Databricks Workflows, or Apache Airflow).
• Demonstrated ability to translate business problems into practical data solutions and communicate trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work in a nearshore delivery model with consistent overlap with US Central business hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead the data team technically, guiding database specialists and developers on data products and pipelines.
• Define and evolve the target data architecture: ingestion, lakehouse, modeling, governance, serving, aligned with security, performance, and cost.
• Drive solution design by translating business and technical requirements into practical approaches and patterns.
• Collaborate with the client's architects and leaders to present options and record decisions for a shared foundation.
• Establish and enforce data quality, access control, lineage, and privacy standards in regulated data environments.
• Maintain CI/CD and DataOps practices to support reliable delivery.
• Lead current-state data assessments and knowledge transfers during transitions, identifying high-value priorities.
• Develop proofs of concept and prototypes to validate architectural approaches for client stakeholders.
• Stay connected to CI&T's data practice and reuse shared methodologies across engagements.
